You know what your problem is? You're not thinking big enough
One of the big hangups with society these days is its obsession with goals.
The problem with goals is that they actually restrict you. Even the word itself comes from Middle English and means limit or boundary.
We end up getting into a pattern of set goal/achieve goal/set goal/achieve goal – which creates progress but doesn't actually bring satisfaction.
The issue is that we get invested in the outcome – a fundamental element of a goal.
Whereas the ideal balance is to be happy in the now – but still looking to move forwards.
The secret is to let go of our need to complete the goal and, instead, focus on the steps forwards. And the only way to really do that is to undertake a worthy mission that you know you will never be able to achieve.
It's all about high intent, low attachment
By letting go of the end result, we can remove pressure from ourselves.
Yet, as the mission is worthy, we still feel compelled to move forwards.
The question for you to answer, therefore, is this.
What would be a mission that you would consider worth pursuing, even if you knew that you could never complete it?
Not a simple answer, I accept that. But within it lies your true purpose.
