Can you keep a secret?
I know people that have everything they've ever wanted and they still aren't happy.
How can that be right?
Surely, if you get what you want, you must be happy, yes?
Well, No. Not necessarily.
The main problem is that most people are actually running after the wrong thing. They're actually chasing down someone else's dream.
Our definition of success will be influenced by those around us – our parents, our peers – and society in general.
We frequently feel compelled – often subconsciously – to make other people feel proud of our achievements, which leads us to pursue a definition of success that isn't actually ours.
For example, society still focuses on money as being the main measure of success and yet no truly happy person would ever hold that out as the number one driver.
When you pursue a definition of success that isn't one you truly believe in, then you can get everything you've ever wanted but not be happy.
So my question to you is, who's definition of success are you actually chasing?
And what would a better definition of success look like that included you actually being happy?
